Abstract

The right to identity is fundamental to the human being. When this right is undermined, as is the case for migrants in vulnerable situations, who have been forced to leave their country without any documentation, they face characteristic risks such as: loss of identity, mistreatment, xenophobia, and abuse. The lack of formal recognition affects their human dignity and limits their access to essential rights, exposing them to even greater social exclusion. In this context, safeguarding this right must be the focus of all migration policies, ensuring that migrants are treated with respect and justice. States and international organizations have the responsibility to implement legal frameworks and policies that promote the integration of migrants, protecting their dignity and fundamental rights.
