Abstract

This article carried out a bibliographic survey in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the existing vegetation and its use as a barrier to mitigate noise pollution on the Green Line, other regions of Curitiba and other regions. For this, a bibliographic search of applied case studies, articles and other publications was carried out with the sound mappings elaborated and data on the effectiveness of the use of vegetation cover, and subsequent analysis of the content obtained. The capital of Paraná is one of the most populous in the country, ranking 8th among the major cities in Brazil. Consequently, it has a high volume of vehicle traffic, one of the factors that
cause noise pollution. Noise pollution is defined as undesirable noise. These bring several harms to human health. The use of vegetation as a barrier to attenuate noise has been applied on a large scale in different places, which is defended by many authors. As a result, it was possible to verify the effectiveness of the use as a mitigation as well as its aspects in the use. In addition to reducing air pollution, soil contamination, thermal comfort, erosion control, landscape benefits, and improving the population's
quality of life. Still, the lack of data and studies that did not allow a more detailed assessment in some places. It is hoped that studies like this can be used in future proposals, ensuring environmental improvement, in the quality of life and health of the population.
