LA VIOLENCIA INSTITUCIONAL EN LOS BARRIOS POPULARES: VIOLENCIA Y FALTA DE ACCESO A LA JUSTICIA
Abstract
This paper addresses institutional violence, a type and mode of violence. This case study examines institutional violence in the popular neighborhoods formerly known as "slums." This paper seeks to demonstrate how the residents of these areas suffer constant violence and harassment from the authorities who should be protecting them, and how the state turns a deaf ear to this reality. The difficulty in addressing these issues is due to the fear of those affected to file complaints and the lack of statistics that allow for forward-looking public policy planning.
