Abstract

The school inclusion of children and adolescents with disabilities is a highly relevant topic and has been gaining increasing attention in discussions that highlight the need for schools to address the inherent differences in their condition. In this context, this study aims to understand the evolution of the rights of people with disabilities in Brazil, especially children and adolescents, and the legislative progress regarding the affirmation of these rights, specifically in education. After a historical analysis and explanation of the legislation, the study focuses on the implementation of inclusive practices in Brazilian educational institutions, understanding education as a guarantee for all individuals, without any discrimination or prejudice. The study outlines the current reality and the main obstacles faced, seeking to understand the need for inclusive education for the full development of people with disabilities.
